Trinity & Broughton Apartments

This £6.1 million conversion of an existing public house and construction of an adjoining five storey steel framed block with basement car parking and deck access provided 57 apartments, for shared ownership, for sale and for market rent.

Blue Sky Design Services, Equity Solutions’ full architectural, environmental, engineering and healthcare consultancy, provided pre and post contract architect services and acted as Eco Homes Assessors for the client, Irwell Valley Housing Association.

The apartments are built on a steeply sloping site on a prominent route into Manchester city centre. This is a regeneration project in a housing market renewal area previously dominated by social rented accommodation.

The scheme utilises modern methods of construction and off-site manufactured bathroom pods. The passive solar design incorporates very high levels of insulation and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery.

Community artwork is incorporated within the development.
The scheme was runner up in the National Home Ownership Awards in the best designed project category, runner up in the RICS 2009 residential awards and was shortlisted in the Builder and Engineer Awards 2008 in the Housing Project of the Year category.
