Praze-an-Beeble Medical Centre

Praze-an-Beeble Medical Centre

Work started in August 2009 to replace the GP practice at Praze-an-Beeble. The new building was completed in June 2010 and opened in September 2010.

The previous premises provided accommodation for a three GP practice and a range of additional services. The premises were wholly inadequate for the current activities, were not Disability Discrimination Act compliant, failed to meet both general and specific minimum standards for the delivery of modern healthcare and offered no potential for service expansion.

The new health centre alleviates these problems by providing united medical, nursing, therapy and social care services. The new development also provides the capacity to accommodate other healthcare professionals and additional services within the community in line with national policy guidelines.

As well as providing modern, flexible premises for GPs, the new development also includes accommodation for health visitors, district nurses, counsellors, midwives, social services and an on-site dispensary.

Facilities have been included to allow minor procedures to be carried out without the need for patients to be referred elsewhere.

Provision has also been made for a plug-in facility to provide additional capacity through the use of mobile units if required.

The provision of this new state-of-the-art facility through LIFT is consistent with the PCT’s strategic review and objectives and is a positive step forward in providing enhanced health and social care facilities for the Praze community.
