Moorside Medical Centre

Opened in January 2006, Moorside Medical Centre provides a purpose built facility and much needed access to health services for the people of Moorside and Sholver.
The centre brings together two existing GP practices, dental and pharmacy services and accommodation for community facilities, district nurses, social workers and health visitors.
The new development has enabled the co-location of health and social care professionals which has provided opportunities for developing new and improved working practices and enhanced patient service provision closer to the local community – so improving access.
Lord Warner officially opened the £2.1m Moorside Medical Centre in July 2006. He said:
“Primary care community services are often the Cinderellas of the NHS – and now they are starting to have a ball. In this case we have used private and public experience to get a good building design that meets local people’s needs.”
