Kenyon Street, Ashton under Lyne
Blue Sky Design Services, Equity Solutions’ full architectural, environmental, engineering and healthcare consultancy provided pre and post-contract architectural services to Pioneer Homes.
The £1.7 m project required the new development of 16 three storey, four bedroom, eight person extended family houses for affordable rent built on three streets following the clearance of unfit terraced housing.
The challenge was to integrate large family houses into a Victorian street pattern whilst retaining the character of the area. This was achieved by using a three storey terraced form in the character of the area with rooms in the roof space to keep the building height in scale with the existing adjacent housing.
