Local community welcomes proposals for long awaited health centre

Plans for a new health facility in Praze-an-Beeble, Cornwall, went on display at two open events for the local community this week. These events were the third and fourth of a sequence of public awareness events organised by Community 1st Cornwall (the Cornwall LIFTco) and Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust that have taken place in relation to the Praze Surgery and continue to show that local public support for this scheme remains very high. The events provided an opportunity to update local residents and users of the existing GP facility on the PCTs commitment to progress a new health scheme in this area and on the current scheme plans and likely timescales for the development. The proposed new facility is being developed as part of the NHS LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) initiative in Cornwall by the countys LIFTco, Community 1st Cornwall Limited, in which the PCT is a shareholder. The proposed development will replace the existing GP accommodation at Praze-an-Beeble which fails to meet minimum standards for the delivery of modern healthcare, is not compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act in terms of access and and offers no potential for anticipated service expansion.
