New Glodwick Primary Care Centre Opens

"The £6m Glodwick Primary Care Centre opens today, Monday April 30. The new facility is the second development to become operational as part of the Oldham LIFT initiative. The brand new building on Glodwick Road will be home to three GP practices, dental surgeries, a pharmacy, childrens services, an orthoptics clinic, podiatry, older peoples services, sexual health, counselling and other services. It will serve around 11,000 patients, including 5,000 to 6,000 at the new dental facility. Children from local schools have been working with Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale on an art, landscaping and time capsule projects which will be unveiled in the centre on the opening. Community 1st Oldham Director, Rod Hulme said: "Were all very proud of this fantastic state of the art development and are very excited by the strengthening partnership with the Primary Care Trust and the potential for even greater success in the future that this brings." The new primary care development is being developed as part of the £100m Local Improvement Finance Trust, or LIFT, programme in Oldham by the Oldham LIFTco, Community 1st Oldham Limited, in which Equity Solutions is the private sector partner.
